Getting started
What does it mean to unpixelate an image?
It means asking a model to estimate the detail that is most likely missing behind visible square blocks, using the structure still visible around them. It is a reconstruction, not a recovery of the original data.
Is unpixelating an image free?
Yes. New accounts get 2 free credits that stay valid for 7 days, and no credit card is required to start. Paid plans start at US$9.90/month.
Do I need to sign up or install anything?
You sign in with a Google account so your free credit and any purchased credits are attached to you. There is nothing to install; the tool runs in your browser. No credit card is required.
Can I unpixelate a censored or mosaicked image?
No. The tool does not remove censorship, redaction or mosaic blur, and it does not recover information that was deliberately obscured or deleted.
Image quality and limits
What formats and file sizes are supported?
JPG, PNG and WEBP, up to 10 MB.
What is the maximum output resolution?
Output resolution depends on your plan, from 8MP up to 32MP.
Why does my result look different from the original?
Because the AI estimates detail rather than restoring it. Where the original information is gone, the model fills the gap with a plausible guess, so the output can differ from what the image actually contained.
Can it read text from a blurry screenshot?
It sometimes improves legibility on blocky screenshots, but there is no guarantee. Do not rely on the output where the text must be exact.
Credits, pricing and billing
How many credits does one image use?
Credits are spent by output size: 1 credit up to 4MP, 2 up to 8MP, 4 up to 16MP and 8 up to 32MP. Failed jobs are refunded in full.
Do unused credits roll over?
No. Credits are valid for the current billing period only and do not roll over to the next one.
What do the plans cost?
Free includes 2 credits on sign-up. Basic is US$9.90/month for 320 credits, Pro is US$19.90/month for 600 credits, and Max is US$39.90/month for 1000 credits. Yearly billing saves 20%.
How do I cancel my subscription?
You can cancel at any time from your account page, or by emailing support@unpixelate.net. Cancelling stops future charges and your access continues until the end of the current period.
What happens if a job fails?
Failed jobs do not use credits. The tool shows the reason and, where the failure is temporary, offers a retry.
Privacy and your images
How long are my images stored?
Uploaded images and results are kept for a maximum of 14 days and then automatically deleted. You can request earlier deletion by emailing support@unpixelate.net.
Do you train models on my images?
No. We do not use your images to train models, and we do not sell your personal data.
Who else sees my images?
Your uploaded image is transmitted to our AI provider to run the model, and both the upload and the result are stored with our storage provider. Payment data is handled by our payment provider. See our Privacy Policy for the full list.
Refunds and cancellation
Can I get a refund?
Yes — first subscriptions can be refunded within 14 days if no credits were used in that period. See our Refund Policy for the full terms.
Why are used credits not refundable?
Access to your processed result is delivered immediately, and processing incurs cost the moment it runs. Once a result has been generated and obtained, that period's credits are not refundable.
What happens after I cancel?
Cancelling stops all future charges. Your access and remaining period credits stay valid until the end of the billing period you already paid for. Auto-renewal charges are not refundable.
